Royal Guard Publishing is a publishing house created by authors, for authors. We’re built on honesty, transparency, effective marketing, and the best rates in the business.
Audiobooks submissions are open for all genres. Contact Jessica through the company discord or email submissions@royalguardpublishing.com
What to expect when publishing audiobooks with RGP:
– High royalty rates to the authors/publishers.
– Increased rates for returning clients. Retention should be rewarded.
– Fast turn-arounds. Normally 90 days or less from script delivery to live on Audible. Not guaranteed, but usually achievable. Lots of factors cause delays, some we can’t control.
– Quality production with steps in place to alleviate issues.
– Access to a pool of experienced and qualified narrators who are well known in the genres and trained in duet narration.
– Custom auditions for you to pick from.
– Marketing on Amazon AMS ads, Reddit ads and Meta Ads, along with social media relevant groups.
– Knowledge of the audiobook market. (Insider information on what sells, what doesn’t, Audible’s metadata system and the in depth behind the scenes of how Audible works)
– Fantastic customer service to our clients across several communication platforms 7 days a week with expansive office hours to accommodate authors/publishers all over the world.
– Simultaneous publication with your Kindle release if desired for select titles.
– As Audible partners, we have access to sales and promo nominations and private customer service with their support team.
– Personalized experience for authors so they can be as involved or hands off with the production as the like.
– Split payments for co-author projects. While not every project qualifies for our services, this one really has helped a lot of authors avoid management and payment issues.
Typical Audiobook only Contract options. These are only examples, this is not a guarantee as contract offers may vary based on several factors.
Option 1: 60% (70% loyalty rate) to the author/publisher post project cost recuperation. RGP covers all expenses, manages the production from start to finish and publishes the series.
Advances or riskier projects may change this rate.
Option 2: RGP manages production start to finish and publishes the series and assists with marketing, the author/publisher covers expenses, 80% the author/publisher.
Option 3: Author pays for and manages production, RGP publishes/functions as a distributor, 85-90% to the author.
E-book submissions are open, but limited.
When it comes to audio production, the source material is selected based on the book’s merits in the marketplace. If your book is doing well, we can make an offer to produce it. This changes when it comes to eBook production.
In today’s age, there are a myriad of risks. Because of this, we’re far more risk averse on the eBook arm. We offer great editors, proofers, plot discussion, blurb torture, and amazing marketing – but we’re highly selective on who gets access to these services and worse, we no longer offer advances for writing. This was abused by AI, and instead of fighting AI in a world of maybes, we have to adjust our model.
The industry is tough and making money is not guaranteed. We want our authors to understand the metrics and risks. You could end up spending months writing and earn nothing, no different than if you self-published and your wonderful book fails to be grabbed by consumers. We prefer to start a series at the point of concept to iron out market flaws before writing starts, but if you’re an established author who has a following, or success on Royal Road with a finished script, it’ll be considered.
The breakdown for our eBook arm:
50% for co-writes on the first series.
60% for solo authors.
+ 10% for returning authors.
If you’re embedded with us and making over 6 figures on eBook only per annum, we bump your rate up to 80% on eBook side only.
While all this sounds great, there is a high chance you will struggle to earn revenue. Establishing a pen name is harder than ever, but if you dedicate yourself to your craft, with a focus to market, you can still succeed.
If you’re still interested, are able to write Sci-Fi, LitRPG, Fantasy, and or Harem, then:
Please reach out to creativesloss@gmail.com. You’re writing to Marcus Sloss / Han Yang when you do so. We only want ‘to market’ content.
